"White Boys In Blue"

Bellville, Ohio, October 5, 1867

"White Boys in Blue" -- Met in Belleville, Oct. 5th., '67, for the purpose of organizing, object of the meeting stated by Geo. W. Youngblood.  J.C. Clark appointed Chairman.  The Resolutions of the Mansfield organization of "White Boys in Blue" was read and adopted.

Motion was then presented by Capt. H.N. Hamilton;  That no one be permitted to sign the Resolutions, or belong to the organization, except honorably discharged white soldiers -- which motion was unanimously adopted.

Signing of the resolutions called for.  The following names were then registered as members of the "White boys in blue."

After which the meeting was adjourned to meet Monday Eve. Oct. 7th. at the Mayor's office, three rousing cheers for the White Boys in Blue was then offered and responded, when the Meeting adjourned.

The "White Boys in Blue."

We re-publish this week the proceedings of the "White Boys in Blue."  With a large number of additional names:

WHEREAS, This Government was founded for and by White Men, and maintained and governed by White Men for upwards of eighty years, and believing that it should so continue, therefore,

Resolved, That we appeal to all the "White Boys in Blue," of this county, regardless of party, who fought for our flag and the Constitution, and the preservation of this Union, to join with us to defeat the designs of all parties and men who are attempting to place the negro on an equality with the white man.

Resolved, That we, the undersigned, form ourselves into an organization to be known as the "White Boys in Blue" with the object of using our best endeavors to defeat Negro Suffrage and Negro Equality, and carry out the principles for which we fought -- a White Man's Government, and an undivided Union:
